Lent Term 1- Extreme Environments – Frozen Kingdom

Frozen Kingdom

This project teaches children about the characteristics and features of polar regions, including the North and South Poles, and includes a detailed exploration of the environmental factors that shape and influence them.

In this unit, pupils will explore what makes something living and the conditions life needs to survive. They will learn how to group and classify animals and plants by their characteristics, understanding why living things are placed into specific groups. Pupils will also be introduced to microorganisms and their role in the living world. Alongside this, they will research and present information about significant scientists, focusing on how Carl Linnaeus influenced scientific thinking through the development of classification systems.
