A Heart that Sees is a Year of Mercy legacy project. As the official Year of Mercy came to an end, Pope Francis asked that we continue the legacy in some way. In school, we are introducing, ‘A Heart that Sees’ as a whole school project. The idea is that the heart sees where love is needed and acts accordingly. We already fulfil this part of our mission here in Boston by helping so many charities throughout the school year, (you can find information about the projects that we run in the ‘Fundraising’ tab in the menu on the right) we also ask that children look around school and notice when someone is in need of anything and how we can act with love to help them in some way.
In 2020, we introduced our ‘A Heart that Sees’ award, to recognise those children who are outwardly living our Gospel values regularly. A child is chosen from each class to attend Hot Chocolate Club with our Head Teacher, Mrs Gleed-Thornley, to recognise their behaviour, attitude and/or learning and to celebrate their dedication to one or more of our school Gospel Values. During this time, they enjoy a hot chocolate with their choices of toppings, including whipped cream and marshmallows, and get to spend time talking about their achievements with the Head Teacher. The children receive their ‘A Heart that Sees’ certificate and this is presented within our Friday child led collective worship; Shining Lights.
