Transition to Secondary School

Leaving primary school and starting secondary school is an exciting time, and lots of local secondary schools offer information evenings for children in Year 5.

Starting Secondary School, a new campaign from BBC Bitesize aimed at 10-12 year olds, their teachers and parents, will shine a light on the great potential of starting afresh in secondary school and also offer practical advice and emotional support to help take the stress out of taking the next big step.

To be eligible for a place in Year 7 at one of Lincolnshire’s grammar schools, children must demonstrate that they have reached the required standard for entry as determined by 11 plus testing. The tests are normally taken early in the last year of primary school (Year 6).

Parents who would like their children to take the 11 Plus will need to register for testing in Year 5.
