5. Pentecost 1: Interconnecting World

Geography – Interconnecting World

In our Geography topic, we will be exploring how transport systems have developed over time and how they connect people and places across the world. We will learn about the location and importance of different capital cities and discover how a variety of global transport methods—such as roads, railways, ships and air travel—help link regions together. We will also focus on the UK’s motorway network, understanding how it supports national travel and communication. Finally, we will investigate how motorways can affect the environment, looking at their impact on landscapes, wildlife and ecosystems.

Science – Properties and Changes of Materials

In science this term, we will begin to learn more about the wider properties of materials and their uses. We will learn about mixtures and how they can be separated using sieving, filtration and evaporation. We will begin to look at reversible and irreversible changes, and use common indicators to identify irreversible changes.
