Geography – Our Wonderful World
We begin our first Advent term with a geography based topic called ‘Our Wonderful World’. During this topic, the children will be learning about physical and human features of geography, maps and positional and directional language. They will learn about the equator and continents and will be introduced to the countries, capital cities and settlements of the United Kingdom.
Science – Everyday Materials
In this topic, we will learn that materials are what objects are made from. We will learn about some common materials that can used to be objects. We will take a closer look at the properties of rocks and recognise the difference between objects and their materials. We will then conduct experiments to learn about melting and freezing, floating and sinking and absorption.
