History – The Roman Empire
Who were the Romans?
This term we begin a history based topic called ‘The Roman Empire’. In this topic we will learn about the growth and decline of the Roman Republic and the Roman Empire. We will discover how the Romans first invaded Britain in 55 and 54 BC unsuccessfully but finally succeed in the Roman conquest of Britain in AD 43. We will learn about the Romanisation of Britain and why the Romans eventually left Britain.
Science – Rocks and Fossils
How can rocks be sorted based on their properties? How are fossils formed?
During the Lent term, we will be learning about rocks and fossils in science. In Lent 2, we will learn about different types of rocks and what makes up their different layers. We will learn how to group and classify rocks, based on their various properties. We will also explore fossils, of both plants and animals, and learn about their formation.
