Please find summer learning, including information about your new topic, for our new Year 2 children.
See the castle ahead? Get ready to invade its mighty walls. Shoot a projectile with an archer's aim. Head across the drawbridge, over the moat and up to the top of the tower!
This is the knowledge organiser:
The knowledge organiser can be downloaded by clicking on the attachment below. There is also a glossary of important topic words for you to read and discuss with an adult. There is a sheet of fun facts linked to your new topic and a labelled picture of a castle too. Can you spot the battlements and portcullis?
You will also find a copy of the summer learning grid you were given at home, a 'getting ready for Year 2' sheet and a list of the red words you have been learning in class. The red words are called Common Exception Words. That means they are tricky to read and spell. Can you practise reading and spelling any of the Year 1 words you don't know yet? Keep the list of Year 2 words ready for next year.
There are also some phonics activities to download. Pick two or three to try. The answers are provided to mark your work.
