Learning Project 

WEEK 2 

Once upon a time - EYFS

The expectations are that KS2 complete 5 hours of learning daily and KS1 complete 3 hours daily

Weekly Maths Tasks 

Weekly Reading Tasks (Complete 1 per day)

Essential - Complete these everyday

  • Complete the Maths resources located under ‘Remote Learning’ on the school website. 
  • Count up to 10 and back to 0

(Extension count to 20 and back to 0)

 

Additional:

  • Watch an episode of Numberblocks.

Find the link in EYFS links and resources tab.

Can you talk about what happened in the episode? What was the focus?

  • Log onto Education City and complete tasks set by your teacher – you will also find this log on inside the front cover of your Remote Learning book.
  • Complete a White Rose Maths Activity
  • Choose a number and see how many times you can make it/ show it.
  • Complete a maths challenge
  • Read a book 
  • Following this, talk about what happened?

Who were the main characters? 

How were they feeling?

  • Whilst you are doing this, talk about any unfamiliar words from the book that you have read. Explore the meanings of these words by using a dictionary and talking to your adult.
  • Could you make up some actions to your story so you can remember it? How do we start our story actions…?” Once upon a time”
  • Read something around the house that isn’t a book – what sounds can you see, can you decode and blend them to read them?
  • Write a book review about the book/books you have read. What did you like/ dislike?
 

Weekly Phonics tasks (Complete 1 per day)

Essential - Complete these everyday

·       Watch the Ruth Miskin Phonics Training videos. Links found under the Remote Learning tab on the school website.

To practise your set 1 sounds.

  • Complete a page in your phonics booklet.

Additional

·       Read Green words

·       Read Tricky Red words – Can you make a short sentence with them?

·       Go on a sound hunt around your house choosing one sound to focus on.

·       Complete a game on the Phonics Bloom and Phonics Play interactive activities. Links can be found under the ‘Remote Learning’ tab on the school website.

  • Complete a Tix Task.
  • Can you write a diary page in your Remote learning book? Start your writing with the date and then “Today I have…”
  • Write a letter to your teacher – What would you like to ask them? What would you like to learn about?
  • Write a shopping list to help your parents, what do you need?
  • Can you write your name using three different types of materials? i.e pencil, pen, paint, using objects.
  • Can you create your own story?

Choose 10 objects/ toys to put into a bag

Take out 3-4 objects out one at a time to create your story. i.e Once upon a time there was a boy who wanted to bake a cake, first he took some bananas…   

Could you draw a story map and write about your story?

  • Complete a writing/reading challenge.

Here is an overview of tasks I’d like the EYFS children to be completing at home over the next  week..

Understanding Our World

Can you think about a fruit or vegetable, how does it grow? Where does it grow? Could you research about how it grows? What does the seed, that it grows, from look like?

 

Write in your Bean Diary (Each week – long term project as it grows)

Please send us your bean’s progress on Tapestry, we would love to see how they are growing.

Is your bean growing? What has happened so far?

Can you draw and label a picture of it?

 

Art

Can you draw the fruit or vegetable plant that you have researched? Can you draw the fruit of vegetable that grows on the plant? What does it look like inside? What colours can you see? 

If you are using paint can you try mixing the colours yourself? What colours do you need?

Music

Listen to one of our class favourite songs from EYFS Activity and Song links and sing-along to them. Can you remember the signs we have learnt for the words?

D&T

Take part in cooking activities at home. Can you help prepare your meals? What equipment do you need to use? What do you need to make sure you do before you start cooking? What are jobs only your adult can do? What are jobs you can help with?

PE

Relax and unwind with some yoga from  Cosmic Kids.

Take part in the daily Joe Wicks School Gym Workout,, why not see if your adults and siblings will join in.

Could you make up your own game to raise your heart rate?

 

History

Look at some old photographs you have in your house. Who is in them? What are they doing? Where are they? Can you see what season it is? 

 

ICT

Could you take a photo yourself to upload to Tapestry of something that made you smile this week?

Can you use the emojis to log into Wonde yourself?

 

RE

Read the story and think about how we can grow and be more like Jesus during Lent. Can you write your ideas down on leaves and make your own growing tree?
