Learning Project - To be completed throughout the week

Here is an overview of tasks I’d like the Year 1 children to be completing at home over the next 2 weeks.

Look at photographs taken from the Hubble Space Telescope, such as the “Pillars of Creation” from the Eagle Nebula.
What do you notice about these photographs? Attempt to recreate a space photograph using paints and glitter.

Upon arriving on an alien planet it is important that astronauts have a means of exploring the wider planet. Using pictures of space buggies for reference, use a selection of materials to design and create your own space buggy!

Take part in the daily Joe Wicks School Gym Workout at home, potentially with your family. These are uploaded daily to Joe’s Youtube channel – link can be found under the ‘Remote Learning’ tab on the school website.

Space Travel was never an easy task and is still something that we struggle with today! The work of SpaceX and their reusable rockets is a major step in space travel for the future. But what other steps were there in the development of Space Travel?
Research and discuss the history of Space Travel. Make a list of key events and how this has helped Space Travel to improve.

There are many differences in the planets of the solar system – some are gas giants, others are made of rock. What do you know about the other planets in our solar system?
Research and create a poster advertising one of the other planets in our Solar System.

Using a variety of materials and colours, create a collage of either a candle or a stained glass window. Look at the examples provided of stained glass windows – what do you notice about the colours and style? Could you recreate this as part of your stained glass window?
