STEM (Science, technology, engineering and maths) week - 11th - 15th March
Wow! What brilliant home learning connected to our STEM week learning.
This year's theme for STEM week was 'journeys'. Year 4 competed against each other to create a means of transporting a piece of tissue paper across the hall - no hands allowed!
Thursday 7th March 2019
Today in school, we enjoyed celebrating World Book Day. Many of our class (and adults) came dressed as their favourite book characters or in their pyjamas ready for a story. Here are just a few of our amazing efforts:
January 2019 - The big schools' birdwatch
Year 4 prepared for the RSPB's annual birdwatch by making lots of tasty treats for the birds visiting the community garden this winter. Here are the photos:
12th - 16th November: Anti-bullying Week
This week is anti-bullying week. We have discussed what bullying is, what it would feel like to be bullied and what we can do if we, or someone we know, is being bullied.
We know that bullying is something unkind that is said or done 'several times on purpose'.
We made up our own hashtags in support of anti-bullying week.
Some of these included:
Here is a picture of our anti-bullying hashtag posters:
12th November: Assembly to mark the centenary of the First World War Armistice
Year 4 recreated a picture of a poppy field, with ten children adding their interpretation of the scene to make one large picture. See the photo below.
The children found out that poppies grew in the fields where the soldiers died, with the colour red signifying blood and sacrifice.
October 10th: Mental Health Awareness Day
Year 4 talked about things that make us sad, and then we discussed some of the things we can to do that help us when we are upset. After that, we listened to some relaxing music whilst doing some therapeutic activities. These included colouring, threading beads, doodling and making beach hut sun-catchers.
