This week, we will continue to learn more about the Sacrament of Reconciliation. 

Let's start by reading these two pages.

Next, have a look at this picture. Think about the questions.

Look carefully at: the cross, the purple stole, the dove, the lit candle, the open book. Why have each of these symbols been included?

The four symbols of the Sacrament of Reconciliation that we are going to focus on today are:

  1. The Sign of the Cross (Why is the cross shape important? What does it remind us of?)
  2. Reading of the Word of God (Which Bible reading would be a good one on the theme of forgiveness or saying sorry?)
  3. The priest's purple stole (Why is purple the special colour for the Sacrament of Reconciliation?)
  4. The laying on of hands (Who or what is the priest calling upon and why when he lays his hands over the person saying sorry?)
