Christ the King - National Youth Funday
We joined in with the Diocese via live stream to sing and pray throughout the day. We had our own liturgy in school and KS1 made their own crowns to wear too. We learnt about Jesus who was a very special kind of king; one who came to serve rather than be served.
Rotary Club Shoebox Appeal
This year we have chosen to support the Rotary Club by preparing 24 shoeboxes which will be sent to Eastern Europe this Christmas! A great effort from St Mary's in a short space of time. Well done!
Remembrance Day 2019
We sold various poppy related items to raise money for the Royal British Legion and we held our own liturgy in school to remember all of those who have died in or who have been affected by wars or conflict. Year 6 also went to the Cenotaph in Boston.
The Dowry Tour of Our Lady of Walsingham
Our school represented our CMAT in a 'living rosary' event at St Barnabas Cathedral in Nottingham. Our Chaplaincy Team and some additional Year 6's made the long journey to Nottingham to read prayers and share our artwork and reflections on 'The Coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost'. This event was live streamed and our pupils did us proud!
St Thérèse of Lisieux Feast Day Mass
Our Chaplaincy Team travelled with Mrs Gleed-Thronely and Mrs Wright to Lincoln to join our family of Catholic schools within our CMAT to celebrate Mass on the Feast Day of our Patron Saint, St Thérèse of Lisieux. We took with us this artwork depicting how we live out the 'little ways' of St Thérèse at our school.
Harvest Festival 2019
To celebrate our Harvest Festival this year, we welcomed Anne who is a volunteer for CAFOD to come into school. Anne did a wonderful assembly for us about the rights of children and she made us think about how we use water and also about how maybe we can avoid wasting water too. Later that day, we had a wonderful Harvest Festival with parents and parishioners joining us too and we collected lots of items for Centrepoint Outreach; a local charity who support the less fortunate.
