Children in Need
A huge well done to our children and a big thank you to their families and friends for supporting our Children in Need fundraising this year. Although the total is still to be confirmed, we can assure you that it is a fabulous amount!
In school we had a non-school uniform day and we held a sponsored danceathon, a cake sale, a 'turn Pudsey gold' activity and a 'pin the cupcake on Pudsey' game.
Here are some photos from our wonderful day:
Remembrance Day was particularly special this year because it was the centenary of the armistice. In school, Year 2 and 5 made poppies to plant on our school field and other children helped to make one large poppy out of painted pebbles. Y5 went to Boston Stump to see the Festival of Remembrance. Y6 went to the Cenotaph in town, where they laid crosses for the fallen soldiers, and to Boston Stump where they lit candles. On Monday 12th November, we had a whole school liturgy during which each class contributed something (e.g. a poem, a story, a piece of art) and we heard the trumpet play before joining together in a period of silence.
Children and staff were extremely generous in their offerings for our Harvest Festival. We collected food and toiletries to donate to Centrepoint Outreach, who provide support to homeless, lonely and vulnerable people in Boston. We also had a whole school liturgy during which each class contributed something about the harvest.
Saint Thérèse of Lisieux Feast Day Mass and the planting of our rose tree
On the 1st October, our school liturgy team went to St Peter and St Paul's Catholic Church in Lincoln to meet with representatives from all of the schools in our academy trust. We had Mass together to celebrate the feast day of our patron St Thérèse of Lisieux. During the Mass, we were given the gift of a rose tree which Year 3 planted in our school garden.
