Strike day remote learning for Year 3, 4, 5 and 6:
Please find below your learning for today to complete at home.
English:
Today you will write a diary entry which could be entered into a competition where you could win prizes.
Watch the video that will introduce the diary entry activity: https://youtu.be/ovzTFHpod5k
You can draw or write in your planning sheet to help focus your ideas. A diary entry can be a recount of something you have done, an imaginary scenario or a mix of both! We love originality and creativity and encourage you to enjoy writing, using your own ideas. You should keep your diary entry to one page, which will help you focus on a descriptive but concise diary entry.
Download the power point below which will explain what a diary entry is, the key features and some examples.
Remember: Top Diary Tips!
Here are the 5 key points that pupils need to remember when writing their diary:
- Diaries are written in past tense, about something that has already happened (whether it’s real or imaginary!).
- Diaries must use personal pronouns e.g. I / we, etc.
- Diaries are written in chronological order.
- Diaries are written in chatty, informal (colloquial) language.
- Diaries are descriptive and show feelings/emotion, thoughts and/or opinions.
Download the planning sheet below to complete first before you begin to write your actual diary entry onto the template.

Religious Education:
We would like you to spend some time researching the liturgical year, the church seasons this afternoon. You can decide how you would like to present your research, using ICT or handwritten. Spend some time with an adult at home using the internet to research the liturgical years.
The main seasons are:
- Advent
- Christmas
- Lent/Holy Week
- Easter
- Ordinary Time
Here are some questions for you to think about to support your research.
- When does the Church year begin?
- When does the Church year end?
- How many seasons are in the Church year?
- What do the different colours represent for the liturgical year?
- Can you research which Bible stories you would hear in each season?
- Can you design/illustrate a symbol to match each church season?
Year 3:
Please research the season of Christmas.
Year 4:

Year 5:
